COLISEUM & YOUNG WIDOWS – Summer Tour & Split CD
As many of you may know, the venerable Breather Resist split with their singer at the end of 2005 and have morphed into the mighty YOUNG WIDOWS. Their first tour is this summer with COLISEUM and to mark the occasion we’ll be releasing a limited edition tour CD including two brand new unreleased songs from each band. The CD will be available at our shows on the tour and the remaining copies, if any, will be sold via our online store. Including members who have done time in LORDS, ELLIOTT, PARLOUR, and The NATIONAL ACROBAT, among others, WOLVERINE BRASS creates another suitably classic notch in Louisville’s well-worn indie rock belt, following the lineage of hometown forefathers like SLINT, BASTRO, and RODAN while channeling the spirit of the early 90s influence via UNWOUND, SONIC YOUTH and NIRVANA. Over the course of its 30+ minutes Wicked Witch features seven incredibly memorable songs, never delves into self-serving pretension, and wraps things up long before its welcome is overstayed. We’re very excited to bring you the vinyl version of this incredible album from this amazing Louisville band (CD on Jade Tree). As always, we put our own sweat and elbow grease into the packaging of this release, with our biggest and best multi-color screen printed covers yet! From the reverb-drenched inspiration of Regulator Watts/Hoover to the bass and drums lock-groove perfected by Shellac and the Jesus Lizard, YOUNG WIDOWS gladly wears influences on its sleeve. Evan Patterson’s signature inventive guitar work is intact and at its peak here, while the rhythm section of Nick Theineman and Geoff Paton lay down syrup-thick grooves, recalling Pacific Northwest heavyweights (think Melvins, Karp, even Nirvana), and British post-punk, ala Gang Of Four. Settle Down City contains 11 songs of rock-solid, grooving, hypnotic, heavy, noise-rock anthems.
