Coliseum joins Temporary Residence and readies new record

Greetings all! We’ve been hiding out for many months working on our third long-player and putting plans into place for 2010. I’m happy to announce that the record is complete and our friends at Temporary Residence will be releasing it this summer! We couldn’t be happier about working with Temporary Residence, they’re one of the greatest labels out there, with strong Louisville roots and hearts that are in the right place. Our years working with Relapse were incredible and we have nothing but great things to say about everyone there, but we felt that it was time for a change. It’s an entirely amicable move on all sides and joining Brooklyn-based Temporary Residence, who began in Louisville and have grown to be one of the biggest and best indie labels in the world, is very exciting for us.

We wrapped up the album last week with J. Robbins at the mixing board and the results are way beyond our expectations. We produced the record ourselves and recorded in Louisville with Kevin Ratterman engineering at his Funeral Home studio, which is actually the second floor of a working funeral home! Recording was an incredible experience and many of our favorite Louisville musicians came down to contribute to the record – Jason Noble, Will Oldham, Peter Searcy, Jeremy and Nick from Young Widows, Carrie Neumeyer from Second Story Man, Brigid Kaelin, eight year old Oliver Cox making his first recorded appearance, among others. We also managed a couple of appearances from pals from out of town – Alicja Trout from River City Tanlines lent some hellacious screams to a tune and J. Robbins sang backups and played guitar on a couple of tracks. While the list of guests may be extensive, ultimately the album consists of the three of us in Coliseum firing on all cylinders, working as a fully functioning power-trio. I truly feel that this is the best record I’ve ever been a part of, but you’ll be able to hear for yourselves in a few months…

We’re looking at a summer release date, with album title, cover art, and track listing to be announced in the coming months. North American and European tours will follow the album’s release, we’ll have one of the raddest bands in North America coming out with us too!

In the meantime, we’ll be appearing at the MACROCK Festival in Harrisonburg, VA on April 3rd, so make it out there if you’re in the area.

That’s it for now.. Thanks!
