Straight A's will make their Louisville debut with an all ages show this Saturday, August 9th at Skull Alley. Since forming in early April of 2008, Straight A's have developed a distinctive sound that is simultaneously more straightforward and yet more offbeat than anything in it's members' collective résumés. The new band includes Nathan Smallwood (Red Sun) on bass, Duncan Cherry (Head Above Water) on guitar, Andrew Padon (Kangaroo) on vocals and Sean Roberts (The Ever Constant Sea) on drum duties. The show is headlined by the energetic Chicago-based post-rock outfit Bear Claw, and featuring locals Plows and Fork in Socket.
Doors at 7:30 P.M. with music shortly after. Cover is $5.
And don't booze it up at their all-ages shows.

Lords returned a little over a week ago from their last tour - a tour of Canada that was plagued with problems. Pretty much all of the problems were thanks to the promoter, who didn't promote hardly anything at all, according to Chris Owens, who wrote up a long and entertaining diary of the events, complete with violence and drugs like any rock and roll story should.
Several places, such as myspace, have deleted or edited the story (which will likely be continued by other bands), but we're hosting it here until some Canadian lawyer tries to shut it down....

Dear Consumers,

Lee Van Cleef is releasing a record. It was put together by the band for
public consumption. It took one year and was done by the band. Sometimes
beer was drank and tetris was played instead of working on the album. 2007
was fun.

This record will be released to the world on Saturday, May 31st. A record
release show will happen. It'll be a a celebration of sorts starring the
aforementioned Lee Van Cleef troupe and local dynamos The Teeth. One more
band may play also. Mystery.

With artists like Mono, playing their one-and-only US date, as well as Louisville’s Tara Jane O’Neill and The Photographic, Terrastock 7 looks to be the one festival this summer swimming against the traditional music festival current.

Terrastock 7 lineup will include…

Oneida, Mono, Entrance, Makoto Kawabata of Acid Mothers Temple, Marissa Nadler, Bardo Pond, Tara Jane O'Neil, MV&EE with the Golden Road, Jack Rose and the Black Twig Pickers, Windy and Carl, Kinski, Damon and Naomi, the Bevis Frond, Major Stars, Wooden Shjips, Black Forest/Black Sea, Simply Saucer, Antietam, Tanakh, Grails, Linus Pauling Quartet, Plastic Crimewave Sound, Paik, The Photographic, United Bible Studies, Dead Maids, Hush Arbors, Ignatz, Parlour, Sharon Krauss, Helena Espvall, & Masaki Batoh, Oneida, Motorpsycho, Sapat, Rob Sharples, Kohoutek, Insect Factory, Pelt, and Kohoutek among others.

Full festival passes are $85 with single day passes going for $25. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.terrascope.co.uk/Terrastock7/Terrastock7_tickets.htm

For more information on Terrastock 7 visit: http://www.terrascope.co.uk/Terrastock7/main.htm

History: To date, there have been six Terrastock festivals. The first took place in Providence, Rhode Island, in April of 1997; the second in San Francisco, California, in April of 1998; the third in London, England, in August of 1999; the fourth in Seattle, Washington, in November of 2000, the fifth in Boston, Massachusetts, in October of 2002, and the Sixth back in Providence again in April, 2006. Terrastock 7 is scheduled to take place in Louisville, Kentucky on June 19th -22nd, 2008.

Each Terrastock Festival builds on the successes of the previous ones. The events are conceived in a spirit of peace, love and co-operation purely in order to celebrate the music championed by the The Ptolemaic Terrascope magazine and the Terrascope Online web community.

Terrastock is not an indie-rock A&R feeding frenzy. Bands and artists are there at the personal invitation of the organisers because we love their music and they love the way we do things. It's simply about the music, and about the whole Terrastock spirit. If you've ever been to a Terrastock, you'll know what we mean...

There's a new band gearing up with members from several notable bands. Yeah, these days, what band doesn't have a noticeable ex-members list, right? Well, most of those bands sucked. These guys' bands didn't.
So here's to hoping that the premiere of Frontier(s), starring Chris Higdon (Vocals/Guitar), Eagle Barber (Drums), Matt Weider (Guitar), Brian Todd (Bass), is a smashing success.

You can catch them at The Pour Haus in Schnitzelburg on May 1st with The Fervor and Jake Winstrom, or on May 21st again at the Pour Haus with The Shipping News and Young Widows.
