Cropped Out 2012

Friday, August 10th, 2012

Cropped Out 2012‘s lineup has been announced (last week, whoops). This year, the festival will be moving back to it’s 1st year location at American Turner’s on River Road, and the dates will be September 28th-30th. Ticketing information and full lineup will be coming soon, but here’s what to expect right now:

FRIDAY + SATURDAY: Our third year kicks off at over 30 bands spread across 3 days (two main days with an unforgettable closing party on Sunday, 9/30). A short list of attractions lined up for Friday (9/28) and Saturday (9/29) include the proto-doo-wop sass of Chain & The Gang led by DC legend Ian Svenonius (The Make-Up/Nation of Ulysses), a very rare performance from elusive Texan blues/folk outsider Jandek, the silky lo-fi New Wave croon of Tampa, Florida’s Merchandise (ft. members of the late great Cult Ritual), the bitingly sour, self-deprecrating social stabs of “World’s Funnyman” Neil Hamburger, live music by David Liebe Hart of Adult Swim’s “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job,” and as always, plenty of organically grown, freshly picked, fairly traded locals like Twin Sister Radio, Gangly Youth, and Kark, just to name a few…

COLISEUM: NEW BASS PLAYER, AUGUST TOUR, FREE 7”

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Via Ryan:

Coliseum Young Widows TourCOLISEUM: NEW BASS PLAYER, AUGUST TOUR, FREE 7”! We’d like to welcome our longtime friend Kayhan Vaziri into the ranks of Coliseum as our new bass player. Kayhan has already played two local shows with us and seamlessly joined in the writing process for our next album. We couldn’t be more excited to have him on board as a bandmate and brother.

2012 has been the first year in our eight year history that we’ve spent off the road and not on tour, but we’re going to venture out for a short jaunt with Young Widows in August, our first tour together since 2009. The Toronto show on August 3rd is a free show and everyone who attends receives a free 7” featuring new and unreleased songs from Coliseum, Young Widows and Toronto’s TV Freaks! We’ll have more info on how to RSVP for that soon.

In the meantime, we’ll continue to work diligently at writing our fourth (and certainly best) album. We’re recording later this year and it will be out sometime in early 2013 on Temporary Residence. More on that as the time approaches… For now, we’re very excited to have Kayhan in the band and stoked for the upcoming shows and 7”!
