Rattletooth - New vocalist

For anyone that wasn't at the show last Monday, Rattletooth has parted ways with Brendan and signed on Tyler Short (Python). He debuted at the Keswick show on a new song in the midst of a water and beer slip-n-slide. It didn't take long for blood to get flowing as both singers hit the floor hard at several points and microphone mesh was cutting face flesh.
Duncan owes half the crowd $10 a piece for all of the groin punches that Brendan received.

Frontier(s) Records!

According to Matt Weider, Frontier(s) has quite a bit going on here in 2009. This summer will see a debut 7" on No Sleep Records. There will also be "a couple of" releases coming out thanks to the Area Rock Recording Co.
So keep your eyes open and pick this stuff up when it comes out. More info will surely be posted up when it becomes available.

The first 1000 copies of the 7" will have awesome limited edition packaging - an outer vellum cover featuring artwork by our pal John Baizley of Baroness with a metallic spot color that lays over a full color printed sleeve. The two layers work together to create the entire image on the front and back. It's then all inserted in a polysleeve with a fold-over flap and sealed with a silver foil sticker. There are two different colors of vinyl for this edition as well.

Guilt/Split Lip

I'm sure you've all heard (and likely bought your tickets already), but May 1st, 2009 (Derby Eve) will see Guilt & Split Lip reuniting at Headliner's on Lexington Rd. Also playing will be Young Widows and Frontier(s) - who many of us are hoping will bust out a Falling Forward song or three. Thank you Production Simple.

Lucky Pineapple has been selected as a "SPIN Emerging Artist"; and there will be a show on 92.1 FM WFNX-fm Boston to feature the band along with others. It will be the first of such shows, tentatively airing at 12 A.M. on Friday night, Jan. 16 (technically Saturday morning). Besides going out over the airwaves, the show will stream worldwide on wfnx.com

Pat McClimans, Chris Reinstatler, and Scott Ritcher have teamed up again as The Metroschifter to record their sixth long-playing release and the group's first since 2000. Louisville label Noise Pollution will be issuing the recording.

Like the group's first album in 1994, the band will accept reservations for the new recording several months prior to its release date so that each copy of the record can be personalized with the buyer's name. "Carbonistas" will be available in compact disc format or as a set of high-quality digital files.

Wino - A Bottle of Pills... CD

I may be late to the party on this one, but people are still dancing. And Benton told me to post this.

At two hours in length, A Bottle Of Pills With A Bullet Chaser compiles every song ever recorded by Wino. In addition to the many singles and lone album, the set includes six previously unreleased tracks, plus the live track "Dogs," recorded during one of their final live performances. Largely inspired by Swans, Crain and the Amphetamine Reptile roster, Wino were one of the loudest, darkest and most eclectic bands in Louisville during the 1990s, and their influence can be heard today in loads of Louisville bands. Expertly digitally remastered from all of the original master tapes by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (Converge, High On Fire), A Bottle Of Pills With A Bullet Chaser is the perfect commemoration to the band that inspired dozens of later Louisville bands and helped launch Temporary Residence a dozen years ago.

Rattletooth signs to Chicago's Organized Crime Records

"We have officially signed to Organized Crime Records. This has been in the works for what seems like forever and we're beyond excited to make it official and announce the news. Our debut 7" record entitled "Curses" will be released in January 2009. It was recorded with Chris Owens at Headbanging Kill Your Mama Music in Louisville, KY in August 2008.

With the start of our weekends we're planning, in November we will be putting up a new song just in time for our trip to Tennessee and Alabama. We have some more weekends planned in December and January that will see us visiting the Mid-west.

Coliseum/Young Widows/Auxiliary News

Hello everyone, COLISEUM are about to head out for a pretty wild tour, crossing the US with Torche and Clouds, then heading to Japan for a week with Torche, then immediately returning for an Eastern US tour with Baroness and Minsk. We'd love to see your familiar faces at these shows!

This will wrap up 2008 for us, it's been pretty insane since No Salvation came out last year... We will have toured four different continents, countless cities and countries, and been tour mates with some of our favorite bands, greatest old friends, and incredible new friends.

I definitely should have posted this before, but when you only update 2-3 times a month, things get lost in the shuffle. Anyway, THIS FRIDAY (9.26.08) will see the record release shows for Lucky Pineapple's "The Bubble Has Burst in Sky City" CD. What? Shows? Yeah, a free show at Ear X-Tacy and then a show at Glassworks all in the same night.
