Straight A's will make their Louisville debut with an all ages show this Saturday, August 9th at Skull Alley. Since forming in early April of 2008, Straight A's have developed a distinctive sound that is simultaneously more straightforward and yet more offbeat than anything in it's members' collective résumés. The new band includes Nathan Smallwood (Red Sun) on bass, Duncan Cherry (Head Above Water) on guitar, Andrew Padon (Kangaroo) on vocals and Sean Roberts (The Ever Constant Sea) on drum duties. The show is headlined by the energetic Chicago-based post-rock outfit Bear Claw, and featuring locals Plows and Fork in Socket.
Doors at 7:30 P.M. with music shortly after. Cover is $5.
At Skull Alley
"We are currently trying out drummers...Here are a few simple guidelines for the interested:

- We would prefer someone 20 or older, as we play a lot of bar shows as well as the all ages shows
- Must have own equipment
- Must be able to practice regularly
- Must be willing to travel (at least on weekends for now) as we will be setting up out of town shows immediately.
- No objections to the use of occasional theatrics.
- Drama queens and hardcore drug addicts will not be tolerated

Any persons of versatile drumming capability who may be interested may contact me at demonhouse@hotmail.com or via our site www.revenants.com

If you are unfamiliar with our music, our site has some examples."

After several delays and construction breaks, the venue is just about ready. Their website is now up at http://www.skullalley.net/. They have several events planned to start off the new place on the right foot - an art show w/ DJs, a pop-punk show, a hardcore show, and.. does it matter? Just come out. Don't be a jerk. And don't booze it up at their all-ages shows.

Besides the venue, Skull Alley is also prepared to meet your screenprinting needs. Past clients include Pocket Bomb, Louisville Hardcore.com, Lee Van Cleef, The Louisville Horsies Softball team, and many more that you may or may not recognize.

A limited edition 2x7” reissue of the Goddamage EP is coming out on Auxiliary in August, with preorders beginning on Shirt Killer in July. The 12” version is now out of print (good job guys!) and the 2x7” is a one-time pressing of 1000 copies (with three different colored vinyl options) before the 12” makes its return.

After that, there is talk about possible releases from Lords, Plows, Brain Banger, and Dark Overlords... Let's hope that this happens!

As for Coliseum, they are playing a few shows in the area in June:
06.19.08 – Louisville, KY @ Cahoots w/ Torche, Shitstorm, Howl
06.20.08 - Indianapolis, IN @ Dude Fest / Emerson Theater
06.28.08 - Sauget, IL @ Pop’s w/ Rancid, Exene Cervenka and the Original Sinners

Then heading to Europe with Converge & Integrity, after which we’ll play Oya Fesitval in Oslo, Norway with My Bloody Valentine (!). Click on "Read More" for the full set of dates.

Lords vs. Canadian Promoters

Lords returned a little over a week ago from their last tour - a tour of Canada that was plagued with problems. Pretty much all of the problems were thanks to the promoter, who didn't promote hardly anything at all, according to Chris Owens, who wrote up a long and entertaining diary of the events, complete with violence and drugs like any rock and roll story should.
Several places, such as myspace, have deleted or edited the story (which will likely be continued by other bands), but we're hosting it here until some Canadian lawyer tries to shut it down....

Lee Van Cleef - The Gentleman's Punch

Dear Consumers,

Lee Van Cleef is releasing a record. It was put together by the band for
public consumption. It took one year and was done by the band. Sometimes
beer was drank and tetris was played instead of working on the album. 2007
was fun.

This record will be released to the world on Saturday, May 31st. A record
release show will happen. It'll be a a celebration of sorts starring the
aforementioned Lee Van Cleef troupe and local dynamos The Teeth. One more
band may play also. Mystery.

Frontier(s)

I'm gonna grab your attention real quick....

There's a new band gearing up with members from several notable bands. Yeah, these days, what band doesn't have a noticeable ex-members list, right? Well, most of those bands sucked. These guys' bands didn't.
So here's to hoping that the premiere of Frontier(s), starring Chris Higdon (Vocals/Guitar), Eagle Barber (Drums), Matt Weider (Guitar), Brian Todd (Bass), is a smashing success.

You can catch them at The Pour Haus in Schnitzelburg on May 1st with The Fervor and Jake Winstrom, or on May 21st again at the Pour Haus with The Shipping News and Young Widows.
