Word on the street (If Big Jim was a street) says that 32 Frames will be playing a reunion show on Novembember 27th, and that it will be a cancer research benefit. Stay tuned for more info.
As many of you may have heard, Lucky Pineapple has signed to SonABlast! Records, and it looks like they’re going to be re-releasing The Bubble Has Burst in Sky City CD nationally on the 28th (previously released on Noise Pollution). To celebrate, the Pineapples are playing on the release date – Friday, Aug. 28th – at the Z-Bar on Preston.Or if you can’t, then take heart knowing that LP is playing two sets, at least one of which will be playing the album straight through (according to Backseat Sandbar). Gather up $7 plus another $65.50 for drinks and head up there around 10pm. I have no idea how big that place is, so you may want to get their early.
And in kinda-related news, Matt Dodds is selling t-shirts and a book of his cartoons – you’ve seen them on a number of Lucky Pineapple handbills and posters. Head on over to http://www.luckypineapple.com/dodds/store.html to check it out!
For those in the know, I bet plans have already been worked out for Thursday, August 27th. But I bet a number of you reading this could stand to have their night planned out ahead of time. So, I’m going to tell you to check out the State Champion, Giving Up, Bad Secrets, and Meah! show that night. State Champion is Ryan Davis, who also runs Sophomore Lounge records. And speaking of Sophomore Lounge, they’ll be releasing a 7″ at this show featuring Meah! – and by the way, it’s a split 7″ with Phantom Family Halo. I hear it’s translucent ice-blue for all of you vinyl collectors.
This will (as far as Ryan or I know) be Bad Secrets‘ first show. Bad Secrets is Dan Davis and Evan Patterson switching up instruments and jamming out songs that are typically :30 or less. They have a 9″ coming out soon on Robotic Empire soon. I don’t know much about Giving Up other than they’re on Sophomore Lounge as well.
LHxC may be offline for short periods starting tonight and continuing to Thursday as the site is moved to a new hosting account. And if you find that the site goes a bit slow after the move – sorry, I won’t be able to do much about it at the moment. Enjoy your flooding!
From Tony Ash:
I’m bored and wanted to share a few recent developments in our neck of the woods, for anyone who may care.
First and foremost, we have recently become a four-piece, with the addition of all around good dude, California transplant, and former Him and His Hair member Elliott Turton on second guitar. We are laying low for the entire summer working him into the band and writing a ton of all new songs. We have no local shows booked as of now, but we will be doing a big, free show here in town sometime in October, as well as a few dates in Chicago and other surrounding cities, to debut the new lineup and new songs, so stay tuned for that.
We just finished recording what will eventually comprise our full length record. It was all done at Headfirst Media by our friend Tom Curtis, and it sounds pretty incredible in my own humble opinion. He has a relatively new Myspace page dedicated to his engineering endeavors and such, so feel free to check that out at: http://www.myspace.com/487398571
