PARASITES EP 12”/CD – In stores Nov 15th:

Our new 8-song Parasites EP on Temporary Residence Limited will hit store shelves this coming Tuesday, November 15th. Hopefully there’s still a great indie record store near you that will stock it, unfortunately Louisville’s beloved ear X-tacy just closed their doors after 26 years. For those of you without record store access, you can order the 12″ and CD direct from Temporary Residence or from Shirt Killer. Shirt Killer is also offering a combo with the 12″/CD and Parasites shirt here.

We’re celebrating the release of Parasites this weekend with our appearance at Louisville’s second annual Cropped Out Festival. We play on Sunday with the legendary Scratch Acid and our literal and figurative brothers, Young Widows. This is very likely our last show for many months, after this we’re going to take an extended break from touring and begin work on our fourth album. Get tickets, set times, and all other info for Cropped Out here. Black God is also playing the festival on Saturday.

RYAN PATTERSON: APOCALYPTICISM art prints, shirts and more:

My friends at Static Age Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio were kind enough to invite me to have my first solo art exhibition over the course of October. The show was titled “Apocalypticism” and featured a lot of new design work and paintings as well as record covers, posters and other work I’ve done over the years. I did a handful of new prints for the show and an Apocalypticism t-shirt, all of which are now available to order online from Shirt Killer. The two new 18×24″ screen printed posters I did the show (Holy Cosmos and You + Me) are among my favorite work that I’ve done, expertly printed by Static Age’s in-house print shop Southpaw Prints.

That’s it for now, thanks!

Cave & Old Baby

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Cropped Out and The Other Side of Life are proud to present:

CAVE (Chicago, Illinois; on Drag City)
with special guests:

Old Baby

OLD BABY (Louisville, Kentucky; members of YOUNG WIDOWS, SAPAT, SHIPPING NEWS, and much more!)
DJ JOEL HUNT (The Other Side of Life)
DJ KIM SORISE (Dirty Soul Party)

Sunday, December 11th
2100 S. Preston Street
9 PM DOORS, $6 cover, 21 and over

CAVE began in Columbia, Missouri, playing mostly improvisational live music. CAVE is now located in Chicago, Illinois. In September 2011 Drag City released the new full length CAVE record Neverendless, which they describe as “a motorik masterwork! The new CAVE is roller-rinkin’ rock for the next generation!”

Watch the video directed by Miss Pussycat for the song “W U J” off their new Drag City album Neverendless here:

OLD BABY is a new Louisville-based band consisting of Todd Cook (SHIPPING NEWS, KINGS DAUGHTERS AND SONS), Jonathan Glen Wood, Neil Argabright (SAPAT), Drew Osborn (WORKERS) and Evan Patterson (YOUNG WIDOWS). This show with CAVE marks their debut, which we are sure will be auspicious, certainly not suspicious.

Cropped Out 2011

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Cropped Out 2011 is coming up this weekend, make sure you don’t miss it. The venue has been updated from last year’s event, and it’s at the corner of E Main St & N Campbell St (click for Google Map link). Advance tickets are still for sale today and tomorrow for  cheap online at Ticketfly, and probably will be available up until doors open. You can get in on Friday for as little as $20 starting at 5pm, Saturday tickets are currently $35 and Sunday $20. The full lineup is below.

Cropped Out is a locally and independently developed music festival set to take place in Louisville, KY. The fest is designed to highlight the creative efforts of Louisville natives, friends, family, and fellow thinkers from Nashville to Chicago to Brooklyn and beyond.

Since the earliest baby breaths of punk from within the walls of the now-defunct Louisville School of Art in the late ‘70s, from local proto-punks like No Fun, Babylon Dance Band, and the recently re-issued Endtables, it is no secret that Louisville’s cultural contributions have long served as a significant influence on national underground art and music scenes. One must not forget, we are still a force with which to be reckoned. This festival, specifically, intends to celebrate a renewed sense of enthusiasm about Kentucky’s cultural offerings by pairing a few of our favorites from the Derby City with similarly exciting examples handpicked from around the country.
