Neighbor s/t

Friday, February 8th, 2013

Neighbor - s/t Neighbor has released a new record which is now available via Bandcamp or CD. The self-titled release has 10 songs.

it’s impressive how powerfully and rapidly the album slams open and never fucking subsides its push.

Recorded by Trip at Treehouse Audio last year, the album sees full time members Adam Kirby, Aaron Sortman, and Sean Gardner team up with Bob Scott on a couple of tracks. It starts off heavy and never lets up, with pouding, driving drums at just the right tempo as to not feel rushed nor feel complacent and guitar/bass tones fleshing out the distortion-heavy volume worship that has formed many local band’s sounds the past 10 years or so. A couple of spots remind me of some earlier Lords material, which I mean, and which I’d hope they’d take, as a compliment.

Neighbor will be playing a release show TONIGHT with Anwar Sadat at Z-Bar. Also playing will be Rogue Vogue from Chicago and the OK DeeJays presumably after the bands.

Neighbor is a heavy band with some heavy thoughts on their mind.

Written Off 7inch

Written Off has a new 7″ about to come out on Six Feet Under Records. It’s ready for pre-order on the Six Feet Under Site. From Six Feet Under:

“In the summer of 2009, inspired by the growing scene in Louisville, Written Off began writing music in vein of hardcore most recognized in Boston and other areas of the North East. After self-releasing Louisville Straight Edge demo cassette tape, a self-titled 7″ on Iron Mind Crew Records, and a split with Atlanta’s Out Crowd on Iron Mind Crew/Like Glue Records, Written Off started writing new material that would define their sound and prove to be their best material thus far. In 6 fast paced, straight to the point tracks, Written Off proves with their second self-titled record the potential of Midwest Hardcore in 2013. This is that record.”

You can listen to a track from the new record on the Six Feet Under BandCamp page.

Lee Van Cleef – Songs About…

Sunday, October 14th, 2012

LVC - Songs ABout ShittingLee Van Cleef called it quits earlier this year in almost typical Louisville fashion. That is to say that they had to part ways right after recording a new record instead of the way everyone seems to record/release/break up almost right afterwards. Justin headed off for D.C. adventure, babies were had, etc. Regardless, that record, helmed by Trip at Treehouse Audio, is seeing the light of internet-day now on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Entitled Songs About Shitting, please give it a shot even if you tend to be fecal-phobic.

State Champion – Deep Shit

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

A little late on this, but better late than never, right?

Dear blood brothers and soul sisters,

State Champion - Deep Shit

State Champion - Deep Shit

Ye Olde Ryan T. Davis here. Just typing to tell you that my rock ‘n’ roll band, “State Champion,” has a brand new 12″ vinyl record for sale starting TODAY.

That’s right, y’all. It’s called Deep Shit (sorry for the potty-title), and is the follow-up to last year’s debut full-length LP, Stale Champagne.

That being said, I know we’ve been through this before, so I’ll save you the long-winded e-mail… but if you’re interested in picking up a copy for your listening pleasure (it comes with a CD, in case you don’t have a turntable), or if you don’t care about music at all but just want to support an old pal, you should swing by the Sophomore Lounge website and grab one fresh off the frying pan while they’re still sizzlin’…

That’s it. See, that wasn’t so painful, was it?
Hope this finds all of you well, where ever you are.

Luv ya. Miss ya. Take care for now, and thanks for reading!

Like Glue + Iron Mind showcase 2011

This’ll probably go down as the show of the Fall. Shit, I wish that was as catchy as “Show of the Summer”. Oh well, fuck it. There will be stage dives, high fives, smelly pits, overly clean dudes, pop punk jumps, angry growls, and pretty much anything most of you would want from a hardcore show regardless of your individual preferences. So try to make it out and support these locals and your pals if you know these guys, and try out something new if you’re not familiar with what’s going on. It’ll also be the 7″ release show for the Out Crowd/Written Off split, a new Enough 7″, and Another Mistake’s ‘Lies For Lust’ 7″. So bring some $$$ to pick up the new releases as well.

I’m going to go ahead and say that even though the flyer states “No fighting, no farting”, that I’m gonna crop dust the shit out of that living room.
