Parlour is releasing a new record entitled “Simulacrenfield” on Temporary Residence. They are a lot better at describing things and being verbose than I am, so why don’t you just read what they wrote about the record:

Simulacrenfield rearranges the vision set forth in previous Parlour releases, utilizing the septet for all it’s worth. The songs are tighter, heavier, and more melodically complex than ever before – no doubt partly contributed to the addition of Jon Cook (Crain, Rodan) on drums, and Breck Pipes (Cerebellum) on guitar. Furnish, Cook and Pipes – along with longtime Parlour member Steve Good (The Web, Sapat) – have a rich and storied musical history, having played in bands together in their hometown of Louisville, KY since the late 1980s. That familiarity and inherent musical dialogue with one another can be heard throughout Simulacrenfield; the rhythm section in a tight pocket while the guitars, keyboards and brass section trade sharp melodies and chugging riffs. Imagine a heavier, more disturbing Neu! with more unexpected twists and turns (and that’s just the jumping-off point).”

Louisville Mixtape: Our pals at the Land Animal blog asked me to put
together a mix tape featuring my favorite songs from Louisville. It took me
a few months to put together, but I finally obliged and included extensive
liner notes / anecdotes. If I was still 16 years old, this is more or less
the tape I would’ve made for you. Obviously I excluded any band that I was
ever a member of, so no Coliseum, Black Cross / Widows, National Acrobat,
Automatic, Enkindels, etc. (more…)

Coliseum joins Temporary Residence and readies new record

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Greetings all! We’ve been hiding out for many months working on our third long-player and putting plans into place for 2010. I’m happy to announce that the record is complete and our friends at Temporary Residence will be releasing it this summer! We couldn’t be happier about working with Temporary Residence, they’re one of the greatest labels out there, with strong Louisville roots and hearts that are in the right place. Our years working with Relapse were incredible and we have nothing but great things to say about everyone there, but we felt that it was time for a change. It’s an entirely amicable move on all sides and joining Brooklyn-based Temporary Residence, who began in Louisville and have grown to be one of the biggest and best indie labels in the world, is very exciting for us.
