Vend-A-Pin Collection List

Vend-A-Pin Collection List

If you’ve been walking around Louisville the past year or so, you’ve likely seen the Vend-A-Pin machines around Bardstown Road, particularly at Ultra Pop. For those that haven’t been initiated to it yet, you pop in quarters and you get a .5″ button with artwork from a local artist on it. Well, Royal Buttons has expanded this program as well as expanded the locations for the machines and made this game of ‘collect them all’ a bit more fun. As mentioned before on Louisville Hardcore (as well as other places), Royal Buttons has released their Vend-A-Pin Volume 1 compilation and the only way to get this sweet piece of 12″ vinyl – collect buttons corresponding to all 10 bands on the comp. For a full track list, click on the Collection List image to the left.

The buttons have been spread around town in various vending machines and are available for fifty cents. Here’s a list of places you can find them –
Ear X-Tacy, Ultra Pop, Nachbar, Highland Coffee, Derby City Espresso, Derby City Chop Shop, The Tim Faulkner Gallery, and Land Of Tomorrow (on Broadway).

When you get a pin from the machines, you get one of those fun little bubbles that you loved as a kid with the band’s pin and a download code for the band’s contribution to the comp. Make sure to keep the paper that the code is on – to get the actual vinyl comp, you need to collect all ten and bring them to Ear X-Tacy and redeem them.

Spiders 4 Eyes - Songs for Nobody

Spiders 4 Eyes - Songs for Nobody 7"

Local punk rockers Spiders 4 Eyes are a new band, but they aren’t starting off slow. Having played just a handful of show so far, they’re eager for more and have already put together a 7″ that is just as eager to be put on your turntable. They’ve also shot a short video for the song “Breaking The Clock” that is in editing right now and should be released soon. They’ll be playing here soon (4/30/11) with Lee Van Cleef  and Chime Hours at Cahoots. Here’s a quick band bio:

“Spiders 4 Eyes is a hardcore punk band formed in the basement of local b-movie director, John Walker. The main focus is around fast, catchy punk of the past. For beauty and ugliness to become one,and for the distortion to reach eleven! There have been comparrisons from the Dicks to Squirrel Bait. The first 7” came out sometime in February 2011, and the band is working on doing a few more records. With keyboards this time around. We hope to be playing quite a few shows around town, and hope to meet all of you! -First show was opening for Bush League @ the Keswick Democratic Club on 3.18.11

Band Members:

John Walker – bass/vocals
Thom-ass – drums
Neil Dyer – moog/sarcasm
Drew Blood – guitar”
