Xerxes has just wrapped up initial recording with Kevin Ratterman for their upcoming 11-song record for No Sleep Records. Here’s the No Sleep press release from a few days back:

Louisville’s newest youngbloods Xerxes have entered the studio today with the amazing Kevin Ratterman (Coliseum, My Morning Jacket) to begin production on their debut full-length.

The new record will feature artwork by Adam Vass of La Dispute, and will contain 11 new songs w/ one b-side to be produced as well.

Look for the new record Winter 2011/2012.

September 9 – Barnesville, OH @ The Lakeview House *
September 10 – DeKalb, IL @ Middlewest Fest *
September 11 – Columbus, OH @ Carabar *
September 18 – Chattanooga, TN @ Southeast Hardcore Fest

* = w/ Pianos Become The Teeth

Xerxes took shape in early 2009 in Louisville, KY. What was once may soon again be the hub of some of the most ferocious and original music coming out of the country’s punk and hardcore underbelly. Xerxes’ sound channels the energy and passion of mid-90’s originators You and I and Saetia, while adding the more upbeat and brutal thrash mentality of contemporaries such as Trash Talk and Ampere, making for a sound that runs the gamut of blast-beat aggression and emotional rumination.

Xerxes - Twins

Xerxes - Twins

Since the Xerxes 7″ was delayed, pre-orders are just now available. So jump over to the Mayfly Records store and reserve your copy of Twins while you can. For $7 you can get both colors, or for $4 you can just grab the gray (400 recycled gray/100 purple). No idea what the shit ‘recycled gray’ is. Swirlie? http://www.mayflyrecords.bigcartel.com/

The new offical release show for the record will be on May 8th at Skull Alley. The lineup is Xerxes, Touche’ Amore’, The New Mexico, Voices of Arida, and Open Fields. 7pm, 3.75 Euros.

From the label’s description: “Louisville’s Xerxes play a mix of traditional hardcore and 90’s screamo that blends the best of bands like American Nightmare or Have Heart with the best of You and I or Orchid. With a raw sound and intelligent lyrics these high school seniors are prepared to make their mark! For fans of Touche Amore, Pianos Become the Teeth, and La Dispute.”  Oh, BTW, Xerxes still has CD versions of the 7″ that they released back in March in case you don’t have a record player. And according to Will, they will have purple available at their shows as well as the online store thing.
