Show Me You Care – Portal photo show

Portal has announced a new art show for the end of July that may interest a lot of you all. Called ‘Show Me You Care’, the show will be a photography-focused follow up to the Don’t Tell Me You Care flyer show from earlier this year. Details are still being worked out, but I can say that I have years of photos myself, as well as photos from Ella Lumpkins and James Case to potentially take down there. Those photos cover ~1996-current with The 540, Primizee’s Pizza, The Brycc House, Skull Alley, the Chestnut House, and more represented. We’ll see what all makes it into the show, but you can bet that there will be some interesting stuff submitted. Portal is looking for photos that are already framed or mounted, so be aware of that. If you have photos from old shows or just some relevant work to display, hit up Portal directly at art (at) portal-louisville.com

Recent Interviews

Two new interviews dropped over the last few days – and a few more over the last couple of weeks. The first one is another Chris Carswell special (I mean it, not being a smartass) with this episode featuring Wy Lynn (Transgression, xGaargoylex, Fluer De Core). If you’re familiar with Conversations With Carswell, you know to expect a long, thoughful conversation with warmth and depth. Settle in with a snack, this one is over 4 hours long.

Then there’s a group of back to back to back interviews from Jamie Orque. Jamie has been great about keeping an eye on Louisville and I bet there will be some more Louisville folks popping up there in the future. Jamie had Jared Barron on the podcast May 19th, quickly followed by another Tyler Short episode (Tyler has been on 15+ previous episodes and is practically a co-host) on May 22nd, and then a Moe episode quickly dropped most recently on May 26th. After checking out these recent episodes, hit up Jamie’s backlog of episodes – there’s a lot of familiar local and non-local names through there.

Split Intentions – Hold Me Back + new music video

Split Intentions - Hold Me Back E.P. cover

Split Intentions has also released some new music alongside a new music video, unfortunately right as they take a break for a bit as they change up the lineup. John (bass) may be leaving the band, but SI will surely be back out there as soon as possible. In the meantime, check out the new tracks and learn the lyrics to get ready. As for the new ‘Hold Me Back’ EP, there’s two new tracks with two previously released tracks. Check it out on Spotify for now (see below) or keep an eye out for a Bandcamp upload and potential physical release.
