Sidestep split 7″ preorders

You may have heard that Sidestep has been busy. They’re just back from tour after announcing a new split with Fleshless Body that went straight up onto Spotify. You may have jammed it there, but now you can throw down for a 7″ preorder. Sidestep brings three songs of melodic indie with hardcore influence that scratches a lingering mid 90s itch. Fleshless Body follows up with two metal core soaked tracks to pummel your ears. I’m not good at describing and labeling so just go check it yourself. The quantities may be limited, so get in there while you can. There’s a white lathe cut 7″ standalone option for $15 as well as a combo pack that will come with a shirt for $30.

Couldn’t Be Everybody – two new EPs to check out

You may think that Issac Hale has had more than enough going on – with Nine Eyes still popping up every once in a while, xWeaponx, Two Witnesses, recording things here and there, and of course the monster that is Knocked Loose. Well… you’d be wrong. Last week, he dropped two new EPs from two different new projects. Issac is singing in both bands, though they’re both different styles. On the Hardcore side of things, there’s Couldn’t Be Me, with a 5 song s/t EP. Old school-ish vibes with very modern production and tones, overlaid with some snarling vocals, perfect for fingerpointing and stage dives. The other one is far more into the death metal/hardcore crossover thing that has been going on, Everybody Dies also coming through with a 5 track s/t EP. The name is pretty indicative of what’s going to brutally happen when they play some shows. Everybody is dying in that pit unless we work out how to harness spinkicks to power the venue. Not to make this only about Issac, because also involved are Chandler Daub (Two Witnesses), Skyler Storm (Walk Alone/Brainseed/All Gods Die), and Blake Smith (Surfaced). If I’m missing people, sorry just let me know. With this crew, keep an eye out for some shows probably coming up soon when KL and Surfaced aren’t on tour.

Don’t Tell Me You Care

don't tell me you care flyer and music show poster design

There’s an upcoming music and art show at Portal that you may not want to miss – entitled “Don’t Tell Me You Care”, the show will feature poster and flyer artwork from the last 40+ years of Louisville music. It may not be completely focused on just punk & hardcore, but who cares. I’m not sure yet of what all will be sourced, but it should be a pretty decent range of things. I know that Ryan Patterson will be showcasing some of his designs over the years, and there will be a selection of the flyers from this site displayed as well, plus a bit more.

On the music side of things, a few old names from Louisville’s music scenes will be taking the stage with their new bands:
Strong Style
Wee Mighty
Cold Hand

Doors open at 7, with music not long afterwards. Come on down and check it out!

Y’all like flyers, right?

For you old timers out there, you may remember a time when this site had 30+ folders of old flyers, largely from 1995-2010. There was a whole lot there. And then at one point due to some tech issues as well as just too many other things going on, the flyer archive was kind of … downgraded. The code side of things was a mess. And really, the ‘archive’ part was pretty crappy too, at least insofar as any kind of date formatting, tagging, etc. What’s been up since… probably 2013 has topped out around 300 flyers, posters, handbills, etc. Well, that changes today (fuckin’ finally).

Everybody Breaks

xWeaponx - Everybody Breaks single cover

xWeaponx is celebrating St. Drinky’s Day this year with the release of a new single entitled ‘Everybody Breaks’. This is the first track off a new 7″ called Demo 2 on Daze. I’m expecting it to be 4 songs in total based on some sweet demo leaks*. Keep an eye out just before LDB Fest at the end of April, you know this will fly off the shelves if the LDB demo 7″ is any indication.

* Dave will only let you hear it before release if you wear a banana costume while serenading him with an acoustic version of Believer by The Promise
