Self Destruct – back from the dead

Self Destruct records is being brought back. The label is being resurrected and set to put out new releases before the end of 2014.

After a 20 year hiatus, Mike Bucayu and John Toombs have brought back Self Destruct Records. There are currently a few projects in the works. Louisville has always had a very influential and strong music community and we look forward to continue documenting in the same spirit as when the label first began.

Slint at Nelligan Hall tonight

Slint will be playing a show TONIGHT at Nelligan Hall here in Louisville. The venue is capped around 200 people, so it will be a far smaller affair than what you’re going to get later this year at Foreskincastle Fest. And since it’ll almost certainly be full up, you probably won’t get in. Sorry, that’s just the way it is. However, the folks over at http://www.artxfm.com/ have a special gift for you and will be streaming the show at 8pm Eastern time. Hopefully the opening band is a lot stronger in the face of heckling than some others have been.

The line-up includes original members of SLINT – Britt Walford, Brian McMahan, and David Pajo – joined by musicians Christian Tonegawa and Matt Jencik. The performance is certain to be outstanding. No matter where you are in the world on Tuesday, April 15, you are invited to join ARTxFM direct from Nelligan Hall as Louisville bids SLINT a heroes’ welcome home. – ArtxFM.com

Breadcrumb Trail – a Slint documentary

With Slint playing at this year’s Forecastle Festival, keep in mind that there will also soon be screenings for Breadcrumb Trail, a documentary about the band. Produced by Lance Bangs, it’s part of the Spiderland box set that Touch and Go will release on April 15th, 2014. The set is around $150, so maybe a little pricy for the casually interested party.
