Via Animo – This Courage Is Bittersweet

Via Animo – This Courage Is Bittersweet

Via Animo has a new record out that I was supposed to post about like 3 weeks ago. Whoops. Entitled This Courage Is Bittersweet, the record was recorded at the House Of Wax and mixed by J Robbins at The Magpie Cage. The 4 song EP is out on Live Nasty Dynasty records, and available at shows. You can check them out on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/viaanimo. The intro song from the EP – Rigor Mortis Romance – is available on Soundcloud, which also features additional guitar from Mike Stewart and vocals from Jake Snider. Check it out below.

Kyle Thompson describes the band and music as follows:

We used to be called Jackalope and had a demo we did with Trip, but this is our first official release under the name via animo. We play some sort of hybrid of 90s screamo and indie rock with the 80s hardcore vibe.

Xerxes – February song+video

Xerxes – February song+video

Xerxes has released their new song and video entitled February this week via the NoiseCreep site. NoiseCreep got it a little wrong and thought it was Calvin in the video I guess (based on the blog post title, maybe I’m reading it wrong though), but everything else is on point. Max filmed and edited the footage and it looks fantastic. The song should be coming out on Xerxes’ upcoming full length release on No Sleep Records entitled ‘Our Home Is A Deathbed’. The new record is scheduled to be released on March 31st. Some more info on the upcoming release as well as pre-order/merch info is available on the No Sleep blog.

Xerxes pre order info

Also available now is Xerxes’ live set from the Sound & Fury Fest in California last year. It’s available for free from the band’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/xerxesband.

Oh, and they’ve also got a new site/Tumblr blog going that they’re updating from tour right now (which extra dates were added to I think, go check out the site for more info).

Life Partner - Dogs

Aaron Osbourne (formerly of Plows and State Champion, among others) is the main dude behind the wheel of Life Partner, and this new batch of bummed-out, midwestern grunge folk is known simply as “Dogs.” Low-fi not giving a fuck fills up the new release on Sophomore Lounge Records newest cassette release, scheduled to make it’s small run appearance on January 24th. However, it’s possible that some copies could be available at the Chestnut House this weekend. Life Partner will be appearing with Savages, Mote (1st show I believe, ex Mountain Asleep among others), a Debauchees. The show is Sunday night (Jan 22nd) and presented by the Cropped Out collective. Five bucks, 7pm, bring a couple of extra bucks for the tape and maybe bring a box of doughnuts for Aaron.

View the FB event post -or- talk about the show on the forums.
